Our Penultimate Market of the 2022 Season
Our Penultimate Market of the season brings lots of Winter squash to TVM! These squashes are great roasted and tossed into salads, or pureed into comforting soups. And the best part: they store for months! We still also have many of the amazing local artisan goods plus delicious farm products you’ve come to expect, plus two guest vendors! Reminder, this is the last Market for Suhru wines so be sure to stock up. Plus mark your calendar for our Halloween Event next Friday!
Cooler Mornings, Warmer Meals
With the arrival of cooler temperatures - we find ourselves daydreaming about whipping up hearty fare filled with the bounty of fall. How fitting that when the temperatures drop we are ready to fire up the oven and stove to simmer, bake, and slow-cook with fresh apples, winter squashes, potatoes, and more
Many types of squash, including delicata and kabocha squash, is now available at the Market. Cooked squash can be pureed and added to soups, risotto, stews, curries, and baked goods such as cakes and pies. It can also be halved, stuffed or roasted and served as a simple side dish.
Try this flavorsome fall Roasted Squash Soup recipe!
By roasting the squash, you add richness and a dynamic flavorful twist to this traditional soup. This recipe calls for two acorn squash but you can swap them out for a similar amount of your favorite winter squash.
Redeem Your FMNP Vouchers!
Reminder: October 28th, 2022 marks the last day to redeem Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) benefits at TVM this year! We have lots of great fall produce, FMNP benefits can be spent directly with Ann Marie's Farm Stand and 4E Green Farm.
Veggies Through the Winter!
If you want your veggies to last a little longer, try canning them! Canning allows you to store your veggies at room temperature for long periods of time.
There are a couple different methods you can use: water bath or pressure canning. Here is a great beginners guide!
And canning isn't just for veggies, fruit cans well too! Canned pears are one of our favorite canned fruits.
